Carnival Cruise Line was inundated with bookings last week when they announced that they would return to the high seas after months of coronavirus lockdown.

Cruise Planners, a company that books cruises on the world’s largest cruise ship line, said bookings shot up by 600% when they announced that cruises would begin August 1. The spike is a 200% increase over the same time period last year.

The travel company told TMZ that those booking the cruises were “not a bit concerned about traveling at this time” because many said they were healthy and looking forward to having fun after being in lockdown for months.

Outbreaks of COVID-19 aboard cruise ships earlier this year was an early sign that the pandemic was raging out of control.

But the company has cautioned that there’s no guarantee they will be able to stick to their desired start date.

“We are taking a measured approach, focusing on the potential for sailing from a select number of homeports where we have more significant operations that are easily accessible by car for the majority of our guests,” Carnival Cruise Line said in a press statement last week. “We continue to work with various government agencies, including the CDC, as we introduce new onboard protocols, but there is no assurance of a return on August 1.”

So here is the trick

you book a cruise for august. U “hope” that cruise gets cancelled. Then when it does get cancelled, you get a nice on board credit on a future cruise.

with that, the cruise agent gets a commission for booking the original cruise and then the next cruise when rescheduled.

I’m not a fan of carnival cruises (prefer royal or NCL) and I considered doing this back in March to book cruises for may as I knew they would be cancelled

How are they going to pull this off. I read some questions posed online and in newspapers. Are the ships going to stop in port cities. Your going to interact with locals in port cities in Europe. Barcelona, Rome, Athens, Milan, Cannes, ect. You get the virus on day two of a ten day cruise. Now you are interacting with passengers on the ship but don't show symptoms till day seven or eight. Are the ships going to just cruise and never drop anchor in any port. I know some passengers never get off the ship but the majority do. I just don't see how out of 4000-5000 passengers on these new huge ships that everyone will stay virus free for 10 days. Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Sea holds over 6000 passengers. Obviously they won't carry near that many but how about if it's just 3000 passengers. Will the gyms be open on the ship. Steam room, sauna, jacuzzi. It's just insane to put yourself in that position. I have been on few cruises courtesy of casinos. Went to Alaska twice. Went to Europe last year. Talk about in close contact. Waiting to disembark at a port. Everyone assembles in the hallways by the stairwells. It's a madhouse. You have to go through security who swipe your cruise ID card. They have to account for every passenger disembarking the ship. Then everyone returning to the ship from the port. All bags and backpacks have to be scanned just like boarding a plane. Cruise addicts go every year some multiple times a year. When you're over 70 years old you realize time is slipping away and no one or no thing is stopping from you getting back on a cruise ship

Be careful if you're thinking about buying this stock. Has HUGE upside but there's some new lawsuit BS going on.

Just booked a monster deal for August

5 day cruise for 5 people, $1219 total.

The kicker, I also get $500 onboard credit.
